Event Description

Winter Weeks at Trimurti

Registration opens on September 7 at 09:00 AM.

This winter, we invite you to join us for an inspiring and creative programme of meditation, satsang, dance, singing, film and more at the Trimurti Sacha Retreat Centre. The winter retreat will take place from December 19, 2026 till January 9, 2027.

The programme is still being developed. Below, we are sharing the main themes and practical information.

During the satsangs, the Upanishads Kaivalya and Adhyatma will serve as the starting point.

The Upanishads

During this winter retreat, Naropa will explore the deeper layers of our reality through these Upanishads, in interaction with the people present.

The word Upanishad literally means “sitting near the master.” In this closeness, a non-verbal transmission takes place, even when words are spoken, songs are sung, or meditation is practiced. The spoken word is always secondary to that which cannot be expressed in words, yet is nevertheless transmitted.

Kaivalya refers to complete spiritual liberation and freedom from everything that binds our consciousness. It can be described as detachment: becoming free from that with which we identify ourselves.

Adhyatma means the inner self: that which lies beyond the body, thoughts, and personality.

From the Vedas to the Upanishads

The Indian Vedas are primarily concerned with maintaining the cosmic order and our relationship with the divine forces. The origins of gods, mantras, offerings, social order, health, food, and rituals can all be found within this tradition.

The Vedanta subsequently emerged — literally meaning “the end of knowledge.” The Upanishads represent an important transition within this tradition. They are less concerned with external rituals and more focused on direct insight into our deepest human nature.

Ultimately, this insight goes beyond our intellectual capacity to understand. Through meditation, we can open ourselves to a direct experience of deeper reality.
