Event Description

Vipassana in Trimurti

Vipassana means ‘insight’ or ‘seeing’. It is much more than a technique: it is an art and a way of life.

This light is your true essence. It is also called consciousness. Vipassana helps to wake you up.

Participants experience the retreats as intense and powerful, but also as relaxed and playful. The intensity of Being increases. Being together with Naropa deepens the effect of Vipassana. Love and consciousness meet and merge.

The retreat takes place in total silence. Reading, writing and phone calls are not permitted. There is also no non-verbal contact between participants. In this way, we immerse ourselves in presence, without distraction.

For more information see: www.vipassana.nl

There are six meditation sessions of 45-60 minutes each, alternating with walking meditations. The Gayatri Mantra is recited each day and there is space for movement.

The retreat begins by registration on Tuesday afternoon at 17:00 and ends at 17:00 on Sunday.

Frequently asked questions

Can I also attend the event online?

If you are unable to attend in person, you can participate online via Zoom. More information can be found in the agenda.

Do I need previous meditation experience?

No, you do not need any specific meditation experience to participate. However, Naropa recommends practicing seated meditation daily in the weeks leading up to the retreat, so that you can become more familiar with sitting and turning inward.

What does the daily schedule look like?

A retreat day usually starts at 07:30 and ends around 21:30. The daily schedule includes several periods of seated meditation (between 45 and 60 minutes), walking meditation, Gayatri Mantra, three meals a day, evening sharing, and seva.

Seva means selfless service. Everyone contributes during the retreat and is assigned a specific task, such as making coffee, vacuuming, or serving food. Upon arrival, you will be informed which seva task has been assigned to you.

What are the start and end times of the retreat?

On the arrival day, check-in is at 17:00 and the opening session starts at 20:00. The retreat ends on the departure day at around 17:00.

Can I request a specific diet?

The meals are always vegetarian. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate dietary preferences or make adjustments to the meals. If you require a specific diet for medical reasons, you can indicate this when registering. We will then contact you to discuss your request. If your medical dietary request is approved, an additional fee of €25 will be charged.

A vegan diet is not possible at all retreats, as we sometimes work with a Vedic chef who uses ghee in the preparation of all dishes. If this is the case, it will be stated in the agenda.

Is meditation equipment available at the location?

We recommend bringing your own meditation cushion or meditation chair and a blanket. There are sufficient normal sitting chairs available.

When will I receive all the practical information?

Approximately three weeks before the retreat, you will receive an email with all the practical information, including arrival times, accommodation, what to bring, the final daily schedule, the location, and more.
